The infection case axis of the new matrix takes into account the rapid increase of infection indicators related to the spread of the Omicron variant and that the workload of hospitals has remained significantly lower in the past weeks than previously in the case of same infection indicators. This is thanks to the administration of booster doses.
According to the new matrix, the average number of infections in the past seven days is very high, i.e. at the red level with over 2500, high with 1500–2500, average with 500–1500 and low with up to 500 infections per day.
As of today, the average number of infections in the past seven days is 2586.3 and the risk level of the spread of the coronavirus remains very high.
The other axis of the risk matrix, i.e. the average number of daily hospitalisations in the past week will not change. As of today, the average number of daily hospitalisations in the past seven days is 39.29, which indicates a high (orange) risk level (30–60 hospitalisations).
One important additional indicator of the new risk matrix is the share of people over 60 years of age among the infected, as people in this age group who have not received a booster dose are the most vulnerable to severe ilness. The Crisis Staff of the Health Board also monitors the workload of family doctors and emergency medical care.
The Government reviews the risk level every week and any amendments thereto will be reflected on the COVID-19 crisis website under risk levels.
