The agenda includes support measures for Ukraine, including strengthening its defence capabilities, implementing a possible ceasefire, and ensuring lasting peace. “The summit organised by President Macron comes at a very timely moment. We need to think ahead and coordinate closely with our allies,” said Prime Minister Kristen Michal. “Ukraine has shown maximum readiness to participate in the peace process and agreed to an unconditional ceasefire. We must continue to strengthen its position. Russia, on the other hand, is using the peace process to make its own demands. Our pressure on the aggressor must not falter,” he added.
Participants in the Paris summit include the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Italy, the Republic of Cyprus, Spain, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands, Czechia, Canada, Romania, Portugal, Belgium, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Türkiye, Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte, President of the European Council António Costa, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, will also take part in the summit. The summit will be followed by a press conference by the President of France.
