According to Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, we have common challenges with Norway in both security and energy matters. “We must ensure the protection of our region in the changed security situation and continue to work together to make military aggression unbearably costly for Russia,” said Prime Minister Kallas.
The prime minister also emphasised the need to find ways to develop the energy sector in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way. “Learning from each other’s experiences and finding new opportunities for cooperation will allow us to make smarter choices, which, in turn, will ultimately help ensure energy security as well as offer better energy prices. In this way, we can also ensure that our environment is cleaner and better preserved,” said Kallas.
On the evening of Tuesday, 5 April, a reception bringing together Estonian and Norwegian entrepreneurs organised by the Estonian Embassy in Oslo and the joint agency of Enterprise Estonia and KredEx will take place.
On Wednesday, 6 April, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will have a bilateral meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The meeting will focus on Estonian–Norwegian relations, the war of Russia against Ukraine and the changed security situation in Europe, as well as energy security and cooperation.
Prime Minister Kallas will also meet with Masud Gharahkhani, President of the Norwegian Parliament, and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence of the Parliament. She will also participate in a roundtable at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies.
Prime Minister Kallas will also open a seminar on Estonian–Norwegian energy cooperation during her visit, visit the Norwegian companies Aker and Equinor, and get acquainted with the work of the Fortum Oslo Varme waste treatment plant.
The business delegation includes Estonian companies BLRT Grupp, ESTIKO Energia, Fusebox, Gridio, Inspirators!, Operail, Pohla & Hallmägi, PowerUP Energy Technologies, Roofit Solar, Saare Wind Energy, Skeleton Technologies, Stargate Hydrogen Solutions, Sunly, TS Shipping, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, the Harju Enterprise and Development Consultancy, the Estonian Hydrogen Cluster, the Estonian Wind Power Association and the University of Tartu. The visit of the business delegation has been prepared in cooperation between the Estonian Embassy in Oslo and the joint agency of Enterprise Estonia and KredEx. The business delegation will be led by Lauri Lugna, head of the joint agency.
