Prime Minister Kallas met with Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine

Malmö, Sweden – 13 October 2021 Today in Malmö, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas met with Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine, with whom she discussed bilateral cooperation, the latest developments in security issues in the region, and the results of the EU–Ukraine summit which was held yesterday.

“The security of Ukraine is the security of Europe and Estonia. At our bilateral meeting, I reaffirmed Estonia’s strong and continued support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and we will continue to offer all possible support and assistance,” said Prime Minister Kallas after meeting with her Ukrainian counterpart.

The prime ministers also discussed further cooperation between the countries, and Kallas confirmed Estonia’s support for Ukraine’s aspirations to join the EU. Estonia already supports Ukraine in implementing reforms in the country, and together, they contribute to the development of cyber security, e-governance, education, and the business environment in Ukraine. Kallas also expressed support for Ukraine’s efforts to join the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Tallinn.
