Stenbock House, 6 November 2026 – At Estonia’s initiative, the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) held a video call today, joined by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The leaders discussed the latest diplomatic developments, upcoming meetings, and ways to continue supporting Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia.

“The coming weeks will be crucial for supporting Ukraine, and we stand firmly by its side. We will help strengthen Ukraine’s position and increase pressure on Russia to bring the war to the end,” Prime Minister Kristen Michal said.

According to Michal, Russia has not changed its objectives despite diplomatic efforts. “Putin continues to repeat the same rhetoric, while Russia keeps bombing Ukrainian cities, homes and energy infrastructure.” It is therefore essential that diplomatic efforts produce tangible results and lead to a lasting and just peace for Ukraine.

“Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, its right to decide its own future, and strong and credible security guarantees are principles on which there can be no compromise,” Michal stressed. “Nor must any peace agreement impose one-sided restrictions on Ukraine or absolve Russia of accountability for the war crimes it has committed.”

The Prime Minister stressed that our response to any attempts to undermine our security must be clear.

“Ukraine’s future cannot be discussed without Ukraine, just as Europe’s security cannot be discussed without Europe. European security issues are discussed at the NATO and European Union tables, with all member states participating,” Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said.
