On September 18, 55 years ago, ActingPresident-Prime Minister Jüri Uluots appointed Otto Tief`sgovernment into office.
The restoration of the governmentalorgans of the Republic of Estonia during the eventful Septemberof 1944 is important, because it affirmed the juridical continuationof the Republic of Estonia, and it showed that Estonia acceptedneither the Soviet occupation nor the 3-year period of Germanoccupation.
To date, the restored independentEstonia has placed little emphasis on the historical and juridicalimportance of the Tief government. Yet, it is one of the essentialparts of the adherence to the principle of juridical continuationof the Republic of Estonia.
In order to observe the event, thePrime Minister hosts tonight at Toompea, at 18:00 o'clock, a dinnerfor those who were associated with the National Committee, theOtto Tief government, and the Haukka reconnaissance group.
