Prime Minister Ratas will visit Saare County

Stenbock House, 22 July 2019 – on 23 and 24 July, Prime Minister Jürti Ratas will visit the islands of Saaremaa, Muhu, and Abruka and the islet of Kõinastu to meet with the local leaders.

During his tour, the prime minister will meet with the heads of local governments, entrepreneurs, and residents of the islands of Saaremaa, Muhu, and Abruka and the islet of Kõinastu. His aim is to discuss the connection between the islands and the mainland and map the already established as well as necessary future improvements.

“Meeting with local leaders during such routine tours will help to ensure that we are walking to the same pace in improving the life in Estonia. I look forward to meeting with the local residents and listening to their ideas, their everyday joys as well as issues that need our attention,” the prime minister said before heading to his journey.

On Tuesday, the prime minister will meet with heads of local governments on the island of Muhu and visit the islet of Kõinastu. Wednesday will begin with meeting the heads of local governments on Saaremaa. At noon, Ratas will visit Abruka to get acquainted with the local library and fire station as well as to hear the thoughts of island residents. The day will end on Saaremaa where he will visit the Pähkla Crayfish and Fish Farm. Alongside the meetings, the prime minister is planning on visiting the Saaremaa Opera Festival.

Such tours are a good practice and part of the prime minister’s duties. Jüri Ratas has previously visited the islands of Kihnu, Ruhnu, Naissaar, Pakri, Prangli, and Aegna, along with the islets of Kesselaid and Manilaid. This year, he is also planning to visit the islands of Vormsi and Vilsandi.
