Prime Minister Mart Siimann meets with Ukrainian ambassador.
Prime Minister Mart Siimann met this afternoon at Toompea withYuri Olenenko, Ukraine's ambassador to Estonia. At their meeting,the positive nature of EstonianUkrainian relations was noted,characterizing them as warm and mutually supportive.
Yuri Olenenko thanked Estonia for the support given to Ukraine at differentinternational organizations.
The forthcoming fall visit to Estonia by Ukrainian cultural figureswas discussed. Also, thoughts were exchanged on how Estonia'sand Ukraine's foreign ministries could help each other in thesolution of their practical problems.
Yuri Olenenko was pleased that this fall a Ukrainian school openedin Estonia. He hoped that Estonia will find it possible to helpthe activities of the 40,000 member Ukrainian organization "Zemlyatsestvo".
The two also mentioned the work of the EstonianUkrainianJoint Commission and considered it necessary to strengthen itswork even more.
Via the ambassador, Mart Siimann extended an invitation to ValeriPustovoitenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, to visit Estoniaat his convenience. The visit will be arranged through diplomaticchannels.
