Prime Mart Siimann meets to address questions aboutstate forest products sale regulation.



The Prime Minister met today at his office with representativesof the Environmental Protection Ministry, Forestry Office, andThe Association of Commercial, Industrial and Forestry Manufacturingto discuss diverse opinions on the government's regulation affectingsales of products obtained from state forests.

Compromises were achieved in most areas of contention at the meeting.
Some fine­tuning remains to be done on some juridical nuancespresent in the regulation text.
Unresolved remained the questionof how large a percentage of state forests is to be under growthin accordance with the republic's regulation Nr. 154, adoptedon May 2, 1994, entitled: "Regarding the sale and grantingwithout fee of growing forest in state forestry."

It was decided that the Forestry Office will present to the opponentsthe reasons for the 60 per cent share suggested in the regulation'sdraft and then The Association of Commercial, Industrial and ForestryManufacturing will reply with its arguments.

The regulation's draft will be discussed and adopted at Tuesday'sregular meeting of the ministers.
