Head of emergency situation appoints regional unit leaders to coordinate emergency situation works

Tallinn, Stenbock House, 17 March 2020 - Today, Jüri Ratas, the head of emergency situation, appointed regional unit leaders for emergency situation works to coordinate the implementation of orders of the emergency situation in local governments.


In the Northern Region – Marko Rüü, Head of the Northern Rescue Centre of the Rescue Board; in the Southern Region – Margo Klaos, Head of the Southern Rescue Centre of the Rescue Board; in the Western Region, except Saaremaa – Heiki Soodla, Head of the Western Rescue Centre of the Rescue Board; in the Eastern Region – Ailar Holzmann, Head of the Rescue Centre of the Rescue Board and in Saaremaa – Margus Lindmäe, Head of the Saaremaa Rescue Area of the Western Rescue Centre of the Rescue Board.


The responsibility of regional unit leaders is to coordinate the execution of government emergency situation orders in the regional and local authorities.


Additionally, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications was appointed as the organiser for the transmission of SMS alerts.


The media must publish the order of the head of emergency situation without delay, unaltered and free of charge. We will also send a formal notification of this.
