Tallinn, Stenbock House, May 28, 2020 – The Government has eased the COVID-19 restrictions for travel, public events, sports competitions, and education.
Travel from June 1
The Government approved a decision authorising the crossing of Estonian national borders from June 1 for persons arriving to Estonia from European Union Member States, from Schengen Area, or from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. They can enter the Republic of Estonia if they have no symptoms of the disease and have been in these countries for at least for the duration of the incubation period of the disease, i.e. for the previous 14 days.
When entering Estonia, a person must remain in quarantine for 14 days if arriving from a country where, over the previous 14-day period, the number of COVID-19 patients per 100,000 inhabitants has been higher than 15. When arriving from a country where the number of infected people has been less, there will be no need for quarantine.
On its website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will publish a list of countries with relevant statistics, which will be reviewed once a week.
The limit of 50 persons for indoor event will be eased to 100 persons
As of June 1 and up to June 30, public events may be organised up to a maximum of 100 people, rather than the previous cap of 50. The 50% of the capacity of the premises requirement, and the 2+2 rule still needs to be observed.
This applies to public events (cinemas, theatres, concerts, etc.), holding meetings, and for visits to casinos and slot machine arcades for leisure.
The requirements imposed on public events need to be followed in basic schools, secondary schools, vocational education institutions and higher education institutions, continuous education institutions, and in the organisation of activities for open youth centres and informal education and hobby activities.
Until June 30, 2+2 rule is in force, the limit of 100 participants applies to indoor sports competitions without spectators.
Sport competitions may be organised outdoors with spectators, with a limit of 100 participants. The organiser must ensure that disinfectants are available.
