Estonia`s and Sweden`s prime ministers,

participating at the informationtechnology conference in Tallinn,

to hold a press conference.

 
 

A conference on information technology in the Baltic sea region willbe held on Tuesday, December 16, at the Sakala Centre in Tallinn.
It is sponsored by the government of Sweden.

Göran Persson, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Ines Uusmann, Transportationand Communications Minister, Leif Pagrotsky, the Minister of Commerce,Anders Sundström, the Minister of Industry, and Margo Wallström,Health and Social Services Minister, will participate at the conference.

Prime Minister Mart Siimann will give the opening address. Foreign MinisterToomas Hendrik Ilves will give a presentation on the role of Estonia inglobal information society.

A video conference will be conducted between Estonia and Sweden, withtechnical equipment provided by Estonian Telephone and Sweden`s Telia.

The two countries` prime ministers will have lunch with Lennart Meri,the President of the Republic of Estonia.
After lunch, at about 3 o`clock, prime ministers Persson and Siimannwill hold a joint press conference at the Sakala Centre.
 

The news media are invited not only to the press conference, but alsoto the conference which will have presentations on the use and applicationof the new information technology in concrete areas, such as medicine,banking, business, education and public administration.
