Public discussion over Estonia’s EU policy will commence
02.07.2007
Tallinn, Stenbock House, 1 July 2007 – On Monday, 2 July, a public discussion over Estonia’s EU policy for 2007-2011 will commence. The Government decided on 28 June that they will commence consultations with all interested parties on the topic of Estonia’s long-term interests in the European Union. The participation of many people and organisations in the development of the policy helps to better shape and protect Estonia’s positions in the European Union. Consultations take place in the participation web, at the address www.osale.ee, and last until 30 September. At the beginning of autumn, the interested parties will come together for a meeting to discuss the received proposals and provide feedback about the course of consultation. The consultation will be arranged by the EU secretariat of the State Chancellery. Estonia has been a member of the European Union since 2004 and already participated in the decision making process related to the EU in previous years. The EU policy developed for 2004-2006 was also born as a result of extensive consultations.
